Backstage Beauty: Charlotte Ronson

For her Spring 2010 collection, Charlotte Ronson was inspired by the ballerinas of New York, specifically the way they look when leaving dance class and mix their dance attire with their regular clothes.

To enhance this motif, hair stylist Allen Ruiz from Avon and makeup artist Charlotte Willard for Maybelline created just-walked-out-of-dance-class looks that were fresh and natural-looking. The hair was pulled back into chic, slightly undone buns and the makeup was kept soft, sheer and translucent.

I got the chance to hang out backstage before the show to talk to the stylists and watch the looks come to life.

Read on to replicate the hair and makeup looks.

NYFW Runway Review: Charlotte Ronson

For her Spring 2010, Charlotte Ronson drew inspiration from the ballerinas of New York circa 1980- a reference point which actually made for a really amazing collection!

Each look contrasted the sweet and airy with the tough and edgy. Ethereal pieces in ballet-pink and white abounded and all were toughened up with punk-rock studs, acid-washed jeans and tops, boyfriend shirts and jackets, and killer leather platforms. Even as the color palette shifted to edgier shades such as black and cerulean, the dancer-off-duty motif stayed intact with delicate sheer pieces, loose layers, and tulle incorporated into almost every look, either by being wrapped around the legs or hanging loosely off the side.
