Backstage Beauty: Brian Reyes

Inspired by Brian Reyes’ refined spring 2010 collection, Tresemme hairstylist Martin Christopher Harper, makeup artist Bobbi Brown, and Dashing Diva’s Pattie Yankee came together to create a look that would compliment the collection’s cool color palette. The hair was pulled into a texture pony-tail while the makeup was kept soft with the perfect pop of color.

Read on to see how these gorgeous looks were created.

HAIR
“Since the collection is so highly refined and the cuts are really strong, we wanted to balance it out with a little bit more of a textured ponytail,” Harper told me as he began to explain the look. With a clean front, the very easy, very refined low pony also features a very clean center part, but with volume and texture in the back. Refining the shape in the front, Harper used Tresemme’s 24 Hour Root Boosting Spray ($5.49) and then combed the hair into a low ponytail. With a little texture and volume at the top which the stylists picked up using their fingers, the ponytail is then wrapped with a thin piece of hair to give it that clean finish. Tresemme’s 24 Hour Finishing Spray ($5.49) was then used to give the look an extra hold. “The collection is so strong that it needed to have some fluidity to it,” Harper said. “Initially we thought, let’s do something highly clean and highly shiny, but now we’re mixing the textures which is great because last season we saw so much of the really dry, really dehydrated textures, and right now we’re balancing it out with the two.”

MAKEUP
Brown created the soft look by first using Hydrating Face Cream ($50) and Hydrating Eye Cream ($45) to moisturize the face and around the eyes. She then used her must-have Foundation Stick ($40) along with Creamy Concealer ($22) and the Corrector ($22) giving the look that clean and crisp finish. To stick to the winter white skin look, Eyeshadow ($20) in Bone/White/Ivory or Toast was applied on the lid.

The cheeks were highlighted with Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow ($20) in Beige or Bone giving them a frosty feel, the Natural Brow Shaper ($19) in Clear was used on the brows, and Red Lip Color ($22) was used on the lips, for a  final look that had a touch of color but was still soft enough for spring.

NAILS
The nails were painted with Dashing Diva’s “57th & 5th” ($8). The sheer pinkish color gave the overall look that natural, pretty yet wearable feel.
