As a fashion and beauty writer, I get all kinds of cool perks and freebies. One of the coolest offers I’ve received in a long time was a free hour-long psychic reading from Psychic Source.
I’ve had a few experiences with psychics in the past, mostly as fashion or beauty events where I had quick readings that lasted a few minutes. All of those experiences were positive and did give me interesting insights so I was really stoked to get a full hour.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I called in for my reading. I think I kind of envisioned her looking into a crystal ball or shuffling some cards to lay out on the table that would reveal exactly how my life was going to unfold, like they do in the movies. It didn’t quite happen that way, but I did get a lot of clarity and direction.
Here’s what went down:
I wasn’t really sure where to begin when the psychic, Libby, asked me what questions I had for her. I started with an easy (or maybe not so easy) topic… my love life. She told me this would be my year (I like the sound of that!) and that a lot of things would begin falling into place (which is actually pretty accurate). She also said it was time for me end my year of travels and exploration and get back into a normal routine.
As we went further, I was astounded by how accurate her observations were. Whether she got them by looking into her crystal ball or by her power of intuition is unclear to me, but she really hit the nail on the head in several areas.
She told me that a lot of the stress I experience comes from carrying the energy of others’ on my back. She recommended I take baths with mineral salts, write to-do lists every morning and visualize myself getting everything done, light exercise to relieve adrenal stress, and Dahn Yoga.
She also told me I have good intuition, but am unable to really tap into it. This is something I’ve definitely noticed about myself. I can pick up on things about people, but I can’t quite get a full read and usually end up doubting myself (and in the end, my original gut instinct usually proved true!). She said I will be able to tap into this more when my life is in a state of order.
She noted that a lot of things in my life are up in the air right now and that I’m in transition in many ways. She offered plenty of techniques to cope with it and I’ve been following her suggestions and they’re really helped!
Another important question I had for her was whether I should focus my energy in earnest on finishing a novel I started writing. It would be a huge undertaking and would require a lot of sacrifices if I really dove in and I’ve kind of been sitting on the project for a while. The psychic quickly put an end to my wavering and said now isn’t the time to take on such a massive project. Right now I won’t be able to find the discipline. Before I can tackle the world of fiction, I need to be in a more settled place financially, emotionally, and structure wise. So true!
She really put me at ease about areas of my life that I felt were unsettled and gave me incredible tips for looking within and finding out what I really want and how to get it.
While it would have been nice to get some concrete answers–like, I don’t know, how many kids I’m gonna have, where I’m gonna live, if I’ll ever be a New York Times best-selling author– it doesn’t really work like that. And I don’t think I’d want it to. Nobody wants to ending to be spoiled, it makes the ride a lot less fun. Instead of a look into the future, I took a good long look at the present and was given the tools to use present to help me get where I want to go in the future. Not too shabby.
Overall, I’d say it was a very positive experience, once that gave me a lot of important things to consider. I would highly recommend trying it out, if anything you’ll gain a major helping of self-awareness and I don’t know anyone who couldn’t use some of that!
