ANM Review: I Had a Psychic Reading

As a fashion and beauty writer, I get all kinds of cool perks and freebies. One of the coolest offers I’ve received in a long time was a free hour-long psychic reading from Psychic Source.

I’ve had a few experiences with psychics in the past, mostly as fashion or beauty events where I had quick readings that lasted a few minutes. All of those experiences were positive and did give me interesting insights so I was really stoked to get a full hour.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I called in for my reading. I think I kind of envisioned  her looking into a crystal ball or shuffling some cards to lay out on the table that would  reveal exactly how my life was going to unfold, like they do in the movies. It didn’t quite happen that way, but I did get a lot of clarity and direction.

Here’s what went down:

I wasn’t really sure where to begin when the psychic, Libby, asked me what questions I had for her. I started with an easy (or maybe not so easy) topic… my love life. She told me this would be my year (I like the sound of that!) and that a lot of things would begin falling into place (which is actually pretty accurate). She also said it was time for me end my year of travels and exploration and get back into a normal routine.

As we went further, I was astounded by how accurate her observations were. Whether she got them by looking into her crystal ball or by her power of intuition is unclear to me, but she really hit the nail on the head in several areas.

She told me that a lot of the stress I experience comes from carrying the energy of others’ on my back. She recommended I take baths with mineral salts, write to-do lists every morning and visualize myself getting everything done, light exercise to relieve adrenal stress, and Dahn Yoga.

She also told me I have good intuition, but am unable to really tap into it. This is something I’ve definitely noticed about myself. I can pick up on things about people, but I can’t quite get a full read and usually end up doubting myself (and in the end, my original gut instinct usually proved true!). She said I will be able to tap into this more when my life is in a state of order.

She noted that a lot of things in my life are up in the air right now and that I’m in transition in many ways. She offered plenty of techniques to cope with it and I’ve been following her suggestions and they’re really helped!

Another important question I had for her was whether I should focus my energy in earnest on finishing a novel I started writing. It would be a huge undertaking and would require a lot of sacrifices if I really dove in and I’ve kind of been sitting on the project for a while. The psychic quickly put an end to my wavering and said now isn’t the time to take on such a massive project. Right now I won’t be able to find the discipline. Before I can tackle the world of fiction, I need to be in a more settled place financially, emotionally, and structure wise. So true!

She really put me at ease about areas of my life that I  felt were unsettled and gave me incredible tips for looking within and finding out what I really want and how to get it.

While it would have been nice to get some concrete answers–like, I don’t know, how many kids I’m gonna have, where I’m gonna live, if I’ll ever be a New York Times best-selling author– it doesn’t really work like that. And I don’t think I’d want it to. Nobody wants to ending to be spoiled, it makes the ride a lot less fun. Instead of a look into the future, I took a good long look at the present and was given the tools to use present to help me get where I want to go in the future. Not too shabby.

Overall, I’d say it was a very positive experience, once that gave me a lot of important things to consider. I would highly recommend trying it out, if anything you’ll gain a major helping of self-awareness and I don’t know anyone who couldn’t use some of that!

I am a psychic and I do work independently on Keen.com. The most important thing is to have an open mind and be honest with the reader. We can’t give you truths if you are feeding us lies and we can’t help you if you aren’t willing to listen or help yourself. Many women feel dissatisfied with psychics simply because they don’t want to hear the truth. They would rather live in denial. Kinda similar to what happens on this board…lol.

I know a handful of genuine psychics. The good ones are awesome. Most of them are fake though. Look up “cold reading techniques.” If they ask you too many questions, they aren’t real. Just be really careful. Don’t go to anyone who has a storefront window! The hotlines are to be avoided – they get paid for keeping people on the line. Ask around for recommendations before you go.

This is really exciting… I’ve heard Psychic Source is a very good resource because even if you’re not to keen on the idea of “fortune telling,” the Advisors provide very intuitive advice. I’m going to try my first reading next week… wish me luck 🙂

So interesting! I’ve been scared to see a psychic because I don’t want to know about bad things before they happen, but this experience totally changed my perspective. It seems much more positive and enlightening that I previously imagined, and I like the idea that you can just inquire about the areas of your life you want insight on. Great post!

This Past Friday I went to a Psychic Fair, and I got my palm read and got a psychic reading. It wasnt my first time doing either. The palm reader was interesting but the Psychic is what got me. As soon as I sat down she asked me why I was sad, I told her I was fine, then we sat for a min and she held my hands, a little to much for me I thought, she then asked me If I am going through a seperation I nodded my head. She then read me a Tarot card and it was strenght. Then out of the Blue she asked me who was Shelly. My heart sank as I told her Shelly is my daughter. The next card she read to me was Magic. There was a few things after this, but overall I left there kinda freaked out.

I don’t believe in psychics, yet am scared of them at the same time. You made me want to try it…

Great post! I have been thinking about seeing a psychic for a while now but keep chickening out. This actually convinced me to give it a try! Have you ever seen a psychic in person rather than on the phone?

Yes, all the other psychics I’ve seen have been in person. Every psychic I’ve spoken to has definitely had great insights and helped me find clarity in situations I was dealing with.
