A little while back, I went to an event sponsored by My Fashion Plate and Lancome where I received a complimentary makeover. They allowed me to chose exactly what I wanted and I decided to keep it clean and simple, not wanting to leave looking like I had a full face of makeup on since I had a bunch of appointments that day.
The finished product was amazing. My skin was clear, even, and luminous. My face looked defined and a little more sensuous. And my lashes were simply to die for, like supersized doesn’t even scratch the surface (no falsies involved!). For the rest of the day, people couldn’t stop gushing about how great I looked (especially my to-die-for lashes!).
I have gotten my makeup done before and every time was left with the same question: “why can’t I ever do my makeup like this?!” Well this time I was prepared and asked tons of questions and diligently watched every single thing that was done. I also followed up with Dotty, the fabulous makeup artist who worked on me and got a list of every product she used.
Rather than hoarding all of these trips and tricks, I’ve decided to share.
How to apply concealer to really banish blemishes:
Pick a shade lighter than your skin tone, pat the blemish with a concealer brush like Lancome’s camouflage #8 ($25), feather and blend. Then blend your foundation and powder over.
How to fake sculpted cheek-bones:
Apply a natural shade of bronzer under your cheekbone using Lancome’s Precision Cheek Brush ($47.50), the bristles are flat and it makes application foolproof. Next, dust a rosy pink blush on the apples of your cheeks in a circular motion and then blend upward towards the hairline (you can use the same precision brush). Finish it off by applying a shimmer powder on top of your cheek bone and brow bone like Lancome’s Absolue Golden Powder ($53).
How to super-size your lashes:
Use Lancome’s Oscillation Powerbooster ($39) to coat your lashes. The vibration moves 7000 times a minute so it coats your lashes 360 degrees. It builds your lashes thicker, fuller, and stronger. Then apply Hypnose Drama ($24.50) over the powerbooster. This is a buildable mascara that you can coat up to 6 times without clumping. Close your eye and brush the mascara wand on top of your lashes, then open your eye and wiggle the wand from the root of your lashes to the tips until the white is coated in black mascara.
