Head to Toe Summer Beauty Essentials

I love the summer months but it can be really tough to look good in the face of the sweltering heat. First, you’re makeup doesn’t stay put, you’re all shiny, your hair gets dry, your skin can be uneven from too much tanning. And it’s not only hard to look good during the summer, the damaging effects it can have on your appearance will cause you years of not looking good after- think damaged hair, age spots, wrinkles.

Right now we’re deep in the summer trenches and you may have found yourself in need of a beauty overhaul. To keep you protected and beautiful all summer long, and thereafter, I’ve rounded up the absolute best summer beauty essentials.

Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15, $34. This tinted moisturizer is a great alternative to heavy foundations which can clog pores and provides lightweight, breathable coverage that will even out your skin tone.

Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix, $8- $27. Getting your makeup to stay put in the blistering heat is nearly impossible. Well not anymore. This spray is designed to keep your makeup in place throughout the day no matter how brutal it gets out there.

Aveeno Continuous Protection Active Sunblock Spray SPF 30, $8.49. Now you don’t have an excuse not to apply (and regularly re-apply), your SPF! This spray will give your skin instant protection without the greasy mess that the lotion formulas leave behind. It goes on quick and easy and seeps right into the skin.

Avon Footworks Creamy Powder Lotion, $1.99. This cream morphs into a cooling powder with application to keep your tootsies nice and dry all day long.

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Concealer Stick, $6.95. This ultra-creamy concealer delivers smooth, even coverage that will stay put, keeping any blemishes and imperfections under wraps throughout the day.

Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel, $35. This stuff is an absolute miracle-worker and will keep even the oiliest skin perfectly matte no matter how high the temps soar.

Rimmel London Sexy Curves Waterproof Mascara, $7.50. Waterproof mascara is a major must for summer. This one is my new go-to and plumps up lashes without the clumps.

Givenchy Le Prisme Sun Visage Mat Soft Compact Face Powder, $45. You don’t need to worship the sun to get a  gorgeous glow. This quartet acts as a powder and bronzer delivering a radiant complexion that is perfectly even and matte.

Finesse Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner, $4.29 each. I have rediscovered Finesse and am now obsessed. The moisturizing shampoo and conditioner duo are formulate with silk and soy proteins that protect and nourish your locks for a silky, frizz-free finish.

Biolage Scalp Therapie Oil Control Treatment, $9.99. A sweaty scalp is inevitable in the super sunny months, especially if you have thick dark hair like me. This refreshing mist helps purify the scalp of excess oil and buildups and will leave your hair looking refreshed and smelling delish.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, $17. Finally! An eye-liner that actually stays put! This pencil is creamy, easy-to-apply, and waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about it going anywhere once you’ve achieved your desired look.

Phyto Phytojoba Intense Hydrating Mask, $38. Too much UV exposure can wreak havoc on your hair, causing dryness, dullness, and breakage. This intense mask is the perfect antidote and will moisturize and detangle for smooth, shiny, healthy hair.

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, $14.99. Get your legs perfectly bronzed is easy (and safe!) with this transfer-resistant spray. In addition to providing a perfectly smooth, even tan, it conceals scars, bruises, and freckles and is enriched with Vitamin K to help fade imperfections. I never wear skirts or shorts without a applying a coat of this first!

Vaseline Intensive Care Active Firming Deep Smoothing Lotion, $7.99. Smooth skin is especially important in the summer because, well your skin has nowhere to hide. This moisturizer is phenomenal and will instantly smooth your skin (so much so you may become unable to stop petting yourself) and improve tone and firmness.
