It was something personal regarding him and mental health issues, it was good news though. Plus that I probably didn’t want to hear from him and that I probably shouldn’t care anyway… But either way…

Okay, I text him back, but I finished the conversation after two texts :) All was good so far. I’ll see if he texts again within the next week before texting him again.

You are doing well. Now the key is to let him come to you. You have conversed so it is not like the door is shut. He knows that. Let him lead…and continue to let him lead.
If he leads you no where then you got the message….loud and clear.

Yep! That’s exactly where I’ve made the mistake before, so I’m definitely going to let him take the lead.
I only replied to make sure he knew that, as you said, the door wasn’t shut :)

3 days after the last contact, he’s messaged me again (unprompted and out of the blue). It’s negative and about his “work”, but i’m not sure why he feels the need to tell me?
Also has made me think, do I really need this negativity in my life after everything?

Just want to say I am on NC and its DAY 11 TODAY. I had good days, and since yesterday, it kinda got worse. WHY worse? I got a dream about him, that he came to my house and wanting to speak with me, apologized, blah blah blah. i know i know, this is silly and not real. but I havnt heard from him since i started NC and he prob won’t contact me. LOL
some of my friends said maybe he was trying to send me some msg through dreams (creepy). is this even possible? just out of curiosity. i really miss him tho, his face, i still cant help checking his instangram (which is private, so there is no point to check). SERIOUSLY, I need to stop missing him.lucy

With the dreams, that’s totally normal, at least it was for me. It made me miss him more.
You’re only 11 days in so far, he could still contact you yet, it took 26 days for mine to. Just don’t get your hopes up!

This is the last time I’ll update this thread as it’s been 31 days now, even though I had spoken to him on day 26 when he text me. I just initiated contact for the first time since starting NC and got a pleasant reply. I’m not considering initiating any more contact first though, and I’ll leave that down to him. I’ll only update it again if I do end up getting back with him or something, but that’s not the top of the agenda at the moment.
If you go into NC with the right attitude, then it will do wonders for you. I feel like I have got my old self back again and I am so much more productive, more positive and feel happier since doing 30 days no contact.
Thank you to all who gave advice, encouragement and support! I wish anyone who is currently doing NC or considering embarking on 30 days of NC the best of luck!

I said I wouldn’t update this…
Things have been a bit patchy but mostly good and we’re now meeting up next week plus going for dinner..!
I’m not getting my hopes up though, but I’m just happy to spend some time with him again.

Can I ask why the breakup? I just looked through the thread and couldn’t find the background story.
If you are doing the NC, I assume he broke up with you?
Hoping things will reconcil with my ex, love him to bits and our breakup was complicated, yet no one did anything wrong. It’s been almost 8 weeks since we split, but there has been regular contact as per my last post.

Hi there!
I completed the NC about a week ago now and it was more just about trying to find myself again than about a break up.
We broke up long ago, but it was just that he had been basically stringing me along and I’d become clingy in the meantime.
I think the best way to talk to someone again without any hard feelings on both sides is NC for a minimum of 21 days, although 30 days is best though. So I hope things do work out for you!
