Trend To Try: Boho World Traveler

The bohemian trend has been going strong for quite some time now, thanks in large part to fashion heavy-hitters like Nicole Richie, Mary Kate Olsen, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and co. I will never tire of this style and I especially love the new ways designers are interpreting it.

For Spring ’09, it was all about the boho world traveler, and lots of designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Milly, Roberto Cavalli, and more found inspiration in far-flung, exotic locals. The boho looks this season are marked by beautiful beading, precise embroidery, and bold prints, adding a bit of jet-setter mystique to the laidback sensibility we have all come to love.

While we’ll be going in a bit of a different direction for fall, where the 80’s will reign supreme, I am all about going with what you love and I absolutely love the boho world traveler look, so in my world, it will never be outdated.

If you share my sentiments, and check out some fabulous wordly boho finds after the jump!

I love these designs and the whole boho look but I’m lost about ways to dress for my body. I’m average size but have a bigger bust and so when anything hangs off of me from the top it makes me look bigger than I am in the waist and down. I also am not sure I could ever pull off a long shirt look with leggins because I’m not petite. What should I do?

Brandy- I think you should try an empire waist maxi dress (like the Rebecca Taylor and Ella Moss styles pictures above). These styles are pretty much universally flattering since they emphasize the rib cage- a slim spot on almost any figure. Plus, they draw the attention upward toward the face making them PERFECT options for those dreaded fat days.

Usually, anything with a graphic print (like the Antik Batik and T-bags styles above) are super flattering, the prints camouflage problem areas by forcng the eye to rove, so those are also great options for you.

I hope this helped! We’ll be doing lots of ‘dressing for your body type’ articles so stay tuned!

I love the way these dresses look on everyone! I’m not sure which would look good on me however. I’m fairly petite in the waist and legs and upper body, but I have hips…dresses like this tend to make me look wider than I actually am and give me the *gasp* pregnant look. I need things that are fitted all over…how can I wear one of these or which style?
