They ghost because simply it’s easier for THEM – saves having to have a difficult, uncomfortable conversation. Far easier to just avoid it altogether. Certainly not an excuse though as who on earth likes having to give someone any bad news?
Of course it all depends on exactly why someone ghosts as well, but I believe in a large number of cases, it’s because they’ve met someone else, some of who simply are not thinking of the other person at all! They’re far too busy chasing the new love interest. If this doesn’t work out for whatever reasons, then this is when they’re most likely to make a reappearance! No way would I ever take someone back who has ghosted. Ever.

When I was a teenager and later at away from home at university, I ghosted all the time! If I had been dating someone from my hometown, I just stopped replying if I had met someone else at uni and vica versa. I just didn’t have any emotional connection with them and assumed my actions wouldn’t bother them either. It was only when I heard later how some were heartbroken that I realised what a horrible thing to do. Utterly thoughtless behaviour. I wouldn’t dream of doing it now, of course but at the time, I hadn’t realised how my actions affected others. Ironically, in other areas in my life ie friends I was considered to be a very thoughtful, considerate person. I was just clueless when it came to other relationships as I had never been hurt myself and just didn’t understand.

And to answer the original question-Yes, as a ghoster I definitely went back! For example -relatng to the above post-A year of so later I went back to the guy from my hometown I’d ghosted on before. Having said that, he asked me out again and I just accepted. It’s important to note I still found him attractive and didn’teave first time because I’d lost this, just I hadn’t seen him for a while and I wanted to date the guy in uni I now liked!
