Hi everyone, very random question and I am probably just overthinking it.

I have a group of 6 girlfriends that we all have a group chat with and speak daily. Most of them are either not working or work odd hours. I currently work full time Monday to Friday, so often they are on video chats in the day while I am at work. I have one best friend in the group that I talk to outside of the group chat all the time and spend lots of time with. The other friends all seem to text and call each other and make plans just to chat on the phone one on one or hang out. I feel that nobody besides that one friend really reaches out to me just to call or talk. I’ve never really been someone just to talk on the phone, so maybe that’s why, but sometimes I feel like I am missing out on something and get feeling insecure. I find I have a hard time getting close with the other friends even though I’ve known them all for approximately 15 years. Do I not see them or talk to them enough or are we just different?

How often do you reach out to them?

    Hi raven,

We talk like every day in a group chat just not much past that anymore. I do reach out sometimes and try to text more directly than just in the group chat alone, but not often will they message me personally. It’s more as a group.

Then you have to start reaching out and let individuals know you want to do things. Maybe come up with some ideas, contact one or 2 of the group individually that specific events might interest them and ask them to go with you. That will help build the connection rather than relying on group chat. And it helps with not having to be on the phone, as you say you don’t enjoy that.
