We're friends but not really

Ok so this guy I’ve been friends with since 8th grade year of middle school and ended up at the same high school with admitted to me during our senior year which was just last year that he’s liked me since freshman year. Unfortunately, I have really strict parents and told him I couldn’t date him back then so we just kept talking and went on one date after graduation. A few days after our date he never responded to my message and then 4 months later he hits me up and I respond and he leaves again. Now, in January 2021 just today, he facetimed me but I didn’t pick up because WTF??? I don’t know what to do should I leave him there or not? And why is he acting like this suddenly?

personally i think you should just leave him alone something big is obviously happening maybe he is just confused or in a bad place rn
