I have four amazing girlfriends. My two oldest, friends of 8 years. The other two a little less.

We are all 27, 28 years old. All of them are currently engaged. I’m struggling a bit being the only single one. I love my friends. I’m so happy for them. I’m in every wedding party as a bridesmaid, but its hard when you don’t have anyone. They gush about their men, their rings, their wedding plans. It makes me sad inside that I can’t do that too. I’ve had bad luck with men and aren’t actively trying to meet anyone, just focusing on myself currently. But its hard.

Even just a week ago my friend came over gushing about her ring. I’m happy for her. Then she talks to me about wedding plans. I was actively talking with her about it. She is getting married far away. So airfare, hotels, rental cars will ensue. Thats fine, but expensive. Then she tells me, well hopefully you meet someone by them so you can travel together and share the cost with all the other couples.

I was hurt by this. That hopefully a man falls from the sky for me so I am not alone at her wedding surrounded by all couples. Like I almost thought that she felt bad for me that hopefully I meet someone soon.

Maybe I’m being sensitive, but inside it does bother me, and I don’t appreciate my friends continually hoping I can meet someone for their weddings.

Try to be more present because you are very young and positivity attracts positivity. It happens all the time at weddings though and a friend of mine met her husband during our wedding planning. Try not to be thinking about what you lack, but be excited and open to your future. You only go around once in life.
