Hi, everyone! Because of lockdowns and restrictions, I’m tempted to try dating apps. Any suggestions? or if you can share how did you find a date?

I met my bf (3+ years together) before the pandemic on OkCupid. Plenty of people (probably everyone) on this site uses or has used dating apps at some point. It can work (I personally know multiple people who married folks they met on dating apps). I personally think dating apps are a no-brainer at this point. They facilitate connections and meeting people. There are downsides of course. But I don’t think you should be apprehensive about using them. Especially in a lockdown situation where you can’t get out & socialize.

May as well try a couple sites and apps. There are plenty of people looking to connect. Just make sure you filter for the type of guy you actually want. If you’re looking for a serious, monogamous relationship for example, anyone saying they’re looking for casual or poly or hitting you up with a sext-y opening line is someone to ignore. So is anyone flaky or inconsistent who has you confused, guessing, or over-investing. Other than that, give it a chance and have fun!

I met my now husband on Okcupid. I think online dating is a great way to meet people you otherwise wouldn’t in real life. Just be sure to think about what you’re looking for and convey that through your profile. Good luck!

Hi Raven!
Yes, I got married 6 months ago. It’s been so long, I had to peek my head in and see what’s new.

Hi Ella
So my girlfriend and I both tried Match the beginning of the year – we didn’t end up having any love stories with anyone we met on there. They seemed to not be serious about dating. However, I did meet my ex on Bumble and we dated for 3 years, this way pre-pandemic of course. So I am not against online dating.
My girlfriend actually ended up reconnecting with an old friend who literally lives around the corner and they are now happily dating. She is happy to be off the dating apps.
I myself also reconnected with an old flame but we are in the very beginning stages and who knows what will come out of it. Keep an open mind when it is meant to happen it will!
