Is it just all in my head

I have been talking to this guy recently and everything was going just fine. We made a connection and we talked and flirted alot. I know his work situation doesnt help much as he is a firefighter and has long hours, but i noticed that a pattern when he would message me for half a day then go radio silence for the rest (either at night or during the day depending on his work shift)He has been telling me he wants to meet me but due to covid and being in another state then him we cant for now. In the past 2 days he has only texted me once and that has been it it was short and simply straight to the point with a bit of flirting going on. I basically asked him a simply question just to see if we are on the same wave length with what is going on. As i dont want to waste my time if he isnt. Do i wait for him to respond or do i message him (the last time i messaged him was after he sent that message 2 days ago just for clarification).
