M, OMGGGGG I’m exhausted from reading this thread. You’ve asked this guy on numerous occasions if he was in a relationship and he’s said NO multiple times. Either let it go and meet him for a date or MOVE ON! Its simple. You should not care that much if he is/isn’t in a relationship. Its just a first date. It seems as if you are WAY too invested in this guy and you are trying to convince yourself otherwise. Sorry if I seem harsh but this is not a hard question. Stick to your gut and leave this man alone if you have all these concerns and you haven’t even met the guy.

I am curious if there have been any new development. I’d say – listen to your gut feeling. Him not texting at night and on the week-ends, it is a RED flag, indeed. You said you like this guy so much. Why? This is where you are making your main mistake. You have never met a person and you already like him so much. But you are right not to trust a stranger. People lie especially in online dating. Whatever you do – take it slow, very slow, get to know his character, observe, if he is hiding something, he will slip up sooner or later, especially if you are paying attention. You already noticed all those things..so don’t overlook them if later you start having a good time with him. I won’t ask him anymore, he has already answered the way he wanted to answer, which does not mean the truth, so to find the truth, you need to observe and pay attention.

Thanks so much Maria! I’m glad you responded to my question nicely instead of scolding me for being overly analytical (which I admittedly am!) and moral about not wanting to be involved in any way with a cheater. I care about doing the moral thing and sought advice about online dating which is new to me, so it’s confusing that some ladies who post about having sex with married men get kinder and more understanding responses than I did.
I agree with you that it is my mistake to like a stranger I met online! Well, it’s too late to turn back time. I got to know his personality (not his entire life) during the three months we tried to deal with our conflicting schedules and set a date. His personality really impresses me like no other man has done in years. He’s not the best looking guy from his photos, I’ve dated much handsomer, more successful guys, but I care more about the way he makes me feel when we talk. He makes me feel relaxed and he makes me smile. All our conversations gave me no doubt that he has been really interested in me. Except when he disappeared abruptly. Which my friends said could’ve been because of my coolness.
If you’d like, I can give you an update after our first date this week! After taking in all the advice I’ve gotten here, I made the decision not to ask him again about whether he has a girlfriend and just to relax and enjoy our first date! I’m so excited about meeting the man who makes me laugh! And it’s my first date in 4 years!

I’m in a similar situatiin, I met a guy online good chemistry but he told me he hasn’t had a gf for over a year. As you I found pics online of him and his longtime gf a month prior I met him.I don’t know what to do as he seems to like me.Phew
M, how did it go? I was confusing myself on same situation as you do, falling in love virtually with a guy whom has a girlfriend (but it is a hidden, I found out via social media). Good luck on everything!

This is anonymous forum and yet I do care how things turn out for all those girls. I wish they posted updates when things got resolved, one way or another.
