Wants to Be Friends but Doesnt call?

So my ex INSISTED we stay friends, wants to pretend that my week of no contact didn’t happen and we remain friends… (we broke up awhile ago but have been struggling with being platonic friends) but then doesn’t initiate or reach out. He asked me on Friday if we could forget the last week and a half of no contact ever happened and we could go back to the way it was, of talking consistently, etc… I agreed, said we can try it again… well now, it’s Monday and I’ve heard nothing from him.. wtf? I figured that as insistent as he was to keep me in his life that he would surely reach out today.. I’m so confused.

You can’t possibly go back to consistent calling as just friends. Move forward in no contact because that space is what you need to get over the relationship. Maybe someday (in the far off future) you can be just friends. But not now. Not yet.

I am guessing he is the one who broke it off?
In this case he just wanted to make himself feel better about it in that moment
