How often should you hear from a guy you just started dating? We’ve only been on one date and I hear from him about 1-3 times a week. Last time we spoke he had mentioned that he wanted to see me again we discussed what we wanted to do although we didnt set a date yet as our schedules are really busy. I just want to know if he’s interested or not.

What do you mean by “hear from him”? When I started dating my bf, I heard from him every day, even if it was just texting back and forth. We saw each other 1-2 times a week at least at the beginning.
How long ago was this one date you had?
From what you’ve written, it doesn’t sound like the guy is very interested. He’s not communicating with you much, and he hasn’t arranged a 2nd date.

I don’t think how often you hear from a guy in the first couple weeks (as long as you do hear from him) is as important as him initiating and making set plans with you in a timely manner for the first few dates and everything (including his communication) consistently and organically going in the direction of growth and escalation. You are still just getting to know each other after one date.
The biggest interest indicator to me was always that the guy mentioned setting up the next date either at the end of the first or did it within a few days (or told me if his schedule was about to be busy due to work or travel but then actually followed up the moment he said he’d be free again). Longer than that before next plans were set generally meant there was going to be a fade out not a follow up.
Also gauge his behavior in the context of does it work for YOU. If he stays at only reaching out a couple times a week and only sees you once a week, then maybe that’s not what YOU’RE looking for. In that situation, maybe it’s low interest, maybe it’s wanting to move at different speeds, but make sure you take your own needs into account and don’t just see it all as hinging on how much he likes you. It’s about you liking what he’s doing as well.

from my own experience like Maddie said it is more about arranging a next date, guys can message a lot of girls at the same time, means nothing really.
when I started dating the guy I am seeing now he was messaging everyday but usually around midday but he was very consistent when it came to dating, I know that at that time he was also messaging other girls but we still had dates set up in advance.
So yeah I think it is more about how often you see each other rather than how often you hear from him.Lane
Agree with others in that whether you hear from him or not is immaterial to a guys interest; its how much TIME (key word) he wants to spend with you will determine how keen he is or not. The more TIME he wants to spend with you, outside of the sheets, is how a man shows his level of interest in a woman. Lots of dates (TIME he spends with you IN PERSON w/o pushing for sex) = HIGH INTEREST; No to low no. of dates w/o pushing for sex = no to low interest.
Be very careful you don’t fall into the “E-Tether” trap. Its something women today need to be super vigilant of as men who only use texts are either: Cheap; Lazy; Bored; Setting you up for easy sex; Need an Ego stroke; Just went through a Break up—list is long. Be leery of the “texters” as they are most likely doing to a lot of ladies so don’t be one of those ladies!
Do not get into the TEXT TRAP, as it is a TRAP, so stay out of the trap and ONLY give your time and attention to a man who is planning lots of TIME to spend with you in person. Even then, pace it, as you don’t want to “rush in” so allow some mystery and intrigue by giving him little bits of information about you ON THE DATE (not by text) which shouldn’t be more than twice a week in the beginning so he has something interesting to look forward to lol. Think of dating like Christmas—give him a little gift (little bit of info. about yourself) on each date (not via text) as its catnip to a guy who really really likes you :o)
