Has anyone else had a virtual affair? I met this guy a few months ago and we’ve been sexting ever since. We keep talking about meeting up but it hasn’t happened yet. I’m trying to phase it out as I’m married but he stays on my mind. I feel like I’ve been pigeonholed into this fantasy girl and don’t like it.

Not the same, but in the same ballpark I think.

During tegh course of my marriage, I had 2 ‘friendships’ that were really emotional affairs, largely conducted by email/text as one lived overseas and the other was married. We didn’t sext but we talked deeply and plenty and I know my husband wouldn’t have been happy with how close we were.

However, unless you meet, you are only how you interpet each others’ words – you might as well have a crush on a celebrity and be texting a chatbot for the ‘reality’ of it. You only know how quickly their mind can come up with a response you find pleasing – otherwise you can both be anyone you want to be with each other. You might be more or less demanding, more or less talkative, more or less direct, more or less confident etc.

If you’re married, stop it or end the marriage. How would you feel if you discovered your husband had been doing this? I left my husband, it was damned hard, but I knew there was something wrong at the core of my marriage for me to be getting so close to others – virtually or not.

    Better off single

Get a new handle, start over, and never put yourself in a position like this again. Unless you like being an illusion or idea that will most likely never come to fruition.
