Shade to Crave: Oxblood post image

Shade to Crave: Oxblood

One of my absolute favorite trends this season is oxblood.  This super rich, super sexy color is the perfect antidote for the drab shades of black and grey that usually dominate during the colder months. Oxblood has been everywhere this season and we’re seeing it on just about every celebrity and style-setter out there. It’s not hard to understand why,  this perfect red hue looks amazing on everyone. This shade also manages to be subdued enough for day and sultry enough to pull off at night.

Whether you’re looking to deck yourself out or just invest in a few accessories in the trendy color, I’ve got you covered with 10 of the best oxblood pieces out there.

The Coat: I need to get my hands on this coat IMMEDIATELY!  I love the tough girl chicness about it and it’s perfectly functional for day to night.  Rock this with anything in your wardrobe from casual to dress and you’ll be the best coat-ed girl out there!  Definitely a must have, go-to coat to take away your winter blues.

Zara Biker Coat with Zip, $249.

The Shoe: A great shoe for fall and winter (on those days when it’s not snowing too bad).  I love a good, rich oxblood shoe and this one gets even better by adding a bright red heel to create a super awesome color blocked pump.  Wear this with jeans, white pants, colored pants, neutrals, tights paired with skirts – you get my drift here.  They go with everything.  If you purchase one pair of shoes to get you through your holiday events, it should

The Bag: I love the sophistication of the a Cambridge Satchel Co. bag and creating a colorblocked oxblood/navy version has me swooning (and adding to my holiday wish list).  What’s great is that this bag is structured, ladylike, and cross body, making it super easy to carry while also super trendy.  This is an all-around great bag for the season that can be worn with anything.  Oh, and this bag would make a great gift!

The Cambridge Satchel Company Satchel – Colorblock, $245.

The Dress: Sheath dresses are great because they are flattering to every body type, so this oxblood dress is a great option to jump on the trend.  Totally professional, but can also be sexy, you’ll have no problem figuring out ways to wear this all the time.  Try layering over a gray long-sleeved t-shirt and some tights for a fun work look or pair with a leather jacket and (faux or real) fur vest for an edgy evening look.

Theyskens’ Theory Doran Furma Dress,  $395.

The Suit: If you’re looking for a way to liven up your suiting, this is it.  Still incredibly chic and professional, this look is one way to easily help you maintain a work-friendly day outfit and shit into night.  Try pretty blush pink or gold tones underneath for a feminine look or try pairing with black or white for bolder punch.  And what’s great is that these two pieces are fabulous on their own and can be paired easily throughout your closet.

ASOS Premium Tux Blazer,$96.75

 ASOS Premium Evening Pant, $61.57

The Sweater: I’m a sucker for a great, cozy sweater and this definitely looks like one.  Rich in color, super soft looking, and gorgeous knit details make this the perfect oxblood sweater to get you through to spring.  One detail I really love about this sweater is that there are two slits and a higher hem-line in the front to, as stated on the product detail, “present the perfect silhouette” and I couldn’t agree more.  Looking slightly half tucked in with the longer hem detail in the back will make you look sleek and trendy in this sweater.  Pair with everything from jeans to dressy maxi skirts, layer over a chambray or printed shirt or under a vest, this is a versatile sweater that will most likely be your go-to.

All Saints Bind Pullover, $150

Denim: Yet another piece that takes from two fall trends: oxblood and leather.  These are a great way to add some edge to your wardrobe and can be paired in a variety of ways.  Try pairing with a dark chambray/denim shirt for something a little more preppy/equestrian, pair with a variety of colored blazers for a more polished look, toss on with a chunky knit sweater for a cozy, casual look, or pair with a sexy blouse and some sky high pumps for a great evening look.
Rich & Skinny ‘Legacy Leather’ Faux Leather Skinny Jeans, $176

The Winter Accessory: A great winter hat it the perfect accessory to spice up your wardrobe.  Not only is it stylish, but it’s also functional (at least just a little bit).  This fab bowler is great to pair with any of your outerwear, with your most comfortable, cozy sweaters, and even as a fun little touch to your more dressed up attire.
TopShop Roller Bowler Hat, $52

The Tank: A good tank is always a great investment because it can be paired in a lot of ways.  It’s also a great way to add some of the season’s best color trends to your look without spending a ton of money.  This tank is light and perfect for layering under blazers, sweaters, and shirts that can take you from day to night and everything in between.  Try pairing with neutrals, navys, or pretty pastel pinks.
OAK Jersey Tank, $60

The Pant: A classic pant in a fun color – makes these perfect for fall/winter.  Obviously these are great for work, but these also great for casual holiday get togethers and dressing up for a fun evening.  Try dressing up with a dark chambray top or a sexy white blouse or even your favorite oversized sweater or shirt – the slim cut of the trouser will work well with your baggier wardrobe items.
J Crew Minnie Pant, $118

So there you have it – 10 amazing oxblood pieces for your winter wardrobe.  And if you’re not sure about the color, remember that there are quite a few different shades to choose from so you’ll have no problem finding the perfect look
