Look We Love: Leather Sleeves

One celeb trend that I’m totally digging is the leather sleeve coat.  Seen on everyone from Jessica Alba to Elizabeth Olsen, it’s such a fabulous style that anyone can pull off.  It’s the perfect combo of chic and rock star and it really adds some punch to your look.

Read on for 10 ways to rock the look.

Vince Shirttail Coat with Leather Sleeves, $725. Perfectly draped, yet incredibly sleek, this coat is perfect for everything and is destined to become a go-to fall jacket. This is a great option if you’re looking for a leather sleeve, but not a bold contrast.  The leather sleeves and wool body are similar in color, yet there’s enough there to create some texture and color contrast. Definitely an investment jacket that you’ll rock for years.

Denis Gagnon Oversize Black Leather Trim Blouse, $445. A twist on the leather sleeve trend – literally.  I love the details that make this sweater, everything from the twisted sleeve to the leather trim.  Oh, and did I mention the fabulous oversized style?  This sweater is perfect for fall or winter and will take you to from work to lounging around at home.  Try tucking into a skater skirt and tights for work (I know this is a pretty long sweater, but either the leather trim on the bottom will peep out and give a fun play on proportion, or you can pull the tuck out a bit and create some slouchiness on top), pair with skinnys and a great shoe for night, and toss on with leggings when lounging around the house.

Zara Coat with Quilted Faux Leather Sleeves, $159. This is a really fun option with a twist on the trend.  You don’t have the whole sleeve so it’s not as bold, but it still definitely makes a great statement.  This jacket looks so cozy and is a universal style so anyone can pull it off looking fabulous.  If you buy one jacket this season, this is it – you can get plenty of use out of this one.

Mason by Michelle Mason Leather Sleeve Gown, $473. Yes, leather sleeves can play dress up too, which is exactly what they’re doing on this Mason by Michelle Mason dress.  Adding the perfect touch of edge to a pretty Grecian-style dress, this look can take you anywhere.  To tone down the leather, try pairing with a statement necklace and some stacked arm candy or a skinny belt for an evening event or wedding (I personally feel that this is wedding appropriate, but if you’re concerned it’s too “white” then maybe rock this at more casual/laid-back wedding celebrations).  For a cool everyday look,  play up the leather by topping it with a cut-off-sleeve denim vest and some great motorcycle boots.

Topshop Contrast Sleeve Army Jacket, $130. The perfect casual option.  I love a good army style jacket and when you add leather sleeves to this timeless look I’m beyond sold.  Pair this with your favorite skinny jeans, lightweight sweater, and some motorcycle boots with a bold statement necklace and you’re set to take on your day.  You can also blend this into your work looks also with a great pencil skirt, t-shirt and cardigan with a fab pair of ankle booties or paired over a fun skater skirt dress with tights and a cute pair of flats.

BCBG Celene Leather-Contrast Trench Coat, $598. Doesn’t get much chicer than this.  You can never go wrong with a classic trench coat and adding a leather sleeve gives you an awesome bold statement without taking away from the overall sophistication of the coat.  What I love about this style is it looks like you’ve got some really awesome two coat layering going on, which makes this a super eye-catching piece.  You can pair this with anything – from gowns to leather leggings and everything in between – and this will definitely be a piece you’ll keep your closet forever.

Sam Edelman Mixed Media Trench Coat,  $210. The perfect tough-girl chic jacket.  Grommets, buttons, zippers – this jacket has it all without being over done.  It’s a great short option that can pair with anything and be as dressed up or down as you choose.  Pair this with a pretty maxi dress and some awesome stacked jewelry (as I like to call, hardware) for an awesome hard and soft contrast, or pair with leather leggings, a graphic boyfriend tee and some awesome platform booties for some rock star fab.

ASOS Top in Knit with Leather Look Sleeves, $43.98. Just like any of your favorite tees, this can be worn with anything.  Rock with some printed trousers for work, pair with jeans and a fur vest (faux or real) for running errands or a great night look, pair with leather leggings and some statement jewelry for a rock star vibe – the options are endless with this piece.

213 Industry Vegan Leather Sleeve Mini Dress, $119. Definitely a go-to dress, this has all the potential to be in heavy rotation in any girl’s closet.  Sleek and chic, you can wear this anywhere.  Layer under a long, cozy cardigan, pair with tights, throw over some funky leggings, or rock solo. What’s great about this dress is that the details are minimal, making this dress almost like a blank canvas, letting you get creative and make it your own.

KARL PVC-Sleeve Cotton-Jersey Sweatshirt, $160. Every loves legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld but it’s hard for many of us to get our hands on his amazing pieces…until now that is.  Get yourself a little bit of Karl with this super fab sweater from his contemporary line.  Try pairing it with a cape, some fingerless gloves, oversized clutch, and some serious booties for play, or why not try layering it over a printed collared shirt with some awesome pajama trousers for work.  Yet another top that can be worn in so many different ways, taking you anywhere from work to relaxation.

Take a tip from some of your favorite celebs and try rocking the leather sleeve trend for fall.  It’s a great way to add a bold touch to not only your look but liven up your coat collection. What do you think of the look? Tell us in comments.

Leather is not a bad idea, it’s durable.
I just would make sure that it comes from an ethical source.
