5 Sweet V-Day Vintage Finds For You

I love everything about Valentine’s Day.

No, I don’t love it because I have a boyfriend who wines and dines me on the 14th (although, that would be nice, wouldn’t it?) I love it because it gives me an excuse to buy myself something pretty and shiny and new in honor of this Hallmark holiday. How could you not love that?

Except, since I’m a vintage lover, I don’t often buy myself something new, per say – I lean more toward the pretty and shiny! Sure, vintage is technically old, but that also means it’s unique and one-of-a-kind. What’s the best gift you can give yourself? Something that no one else has!

So no matter what your relationship status is this Valentine’s Day, it’s important to remember that V-day is a day of love – especially for yourself! In preparation for my own day of self indulgence, I checked out some of my favorite online vintage sellers  to see what sweet and shiny pieces they had for sale. What I found: five different options perfect for five different engagements. Date or not, I’ve got something worth buying for a little love this Valentine’s Day.

Read on for my top 5 sweet vintage finds!

For a Night Out with the Girls: 1980s Heart Clutch, $45. You can’t beat a clutch with a built-in strap. The heart design gives it just sparkle and sass to wear out with the girls, with the practically and convenience for that morning-after brunch date, too.

For a Mani/Pedi Date with Your Mom:
1990s Rainbow Heart Pendant Necklace, $11.95. Honor Valentine’s Day (and love for your mama!) with this rainbow heart pendant. It’s an easy and breezy piece with any casual and colorful sweater, top, or dress. Just throw it on to spread the love.

For Dinner with His Parents:
1950s Rose Print Cocktail Dress with Bow, $58. An absolute street-stopper, this dress is worth wearing everyday. Pair it with black gloves and pumps for a truly 1950s-housewife look, or tone it down with a leather jacket (I love the ones sold at Rolling Stone Vintage) and Converse sneaks to exude effortless chic.

For Dinner with Him: 1980s Harriet Vintage Rhinestone Necklace, $40. Staple necklaces are just as important as the Little Black Dress. Invest in timeless, classic pieces that you can wear anywhere a reservation is required. Rhinestones work on any skin tone, are easily cleaned and when vintage, add a romantic touch instead of a fistful of bling.

For Those After-Dinner Activities: 1980s Hot Pink Tap Pant Lingerie, $28. This adorably sexy lingerie set is actually a spin-off of a popular 1940s lingerie style, featuring the “tap pant,” a high-waisted, light and airy short designed to look like a skirt. Not that he’ll care – this lingerie will definitely be spinning somewhere (and most definitely off) before you can say “I love vintage” 10 times.

Hey Ellen!

I absolutely agree! LOVE the fact that so many vintage clutches have straps. I even have a hand sewn clutch from India in my collection that has a strap. It’s so elegant and chic. Who wants to carry a big hobo bag anymore? Less is more …. and the older, the better! ;-)
