Beautiful Skin from the Inside Out and the Outside In

There is nothing more attractive, desired, or desirable than gorgeous skin. Fortunately, attaining this coveted asset isn’t as elusive as you think.

The saying you are what you eat is especially true when it comes to attaining a coveted clear complexion; what goes in plays a huge role in what radiates out. When I tweak my diet, the first thing I notice is a dramatic improvement in my skin. You don’t need to do a major overall and cut out everything you love as long as you also make an effort to incorporate some skin super foods into your diet.

Coming in second to what you eat is the products you use. I have been writing about beauty for five years now and in that time I have experienced many ups and downs in regards to my skin. I have also had the opportunity to try out hundreds of products.

Read on for the best foods to eat and products to use for a clear, luminous complexion.

FROM THE INSIDE OUT:

Alfafa Sprouts
Don’t underestimate these little guys in your quest for clear skin! Sprouts are packed with valuable nutrients to give you a glowing complexion (not to mention, better health overall!) such as calcium, folic acid, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, silicon, sodium and zinc. And that’s not all, they also contain vitamins A, B complex, C, E and K.

Acai
These tiny purple fruits are packed with nutrients and antioxidants. The Omega 3 fatty acids found in Acai help the body absorb nutrients and facilitates the elimination of toxins and free radicals keeping skin cells restored and hydrated. The result is smooth, radiant skin.

Avocado
Avocado has many benefits, it fills you up so you don’t overeat and is also a great source of vitamin E, which boost skin’s luminosity. It also contains vitamin C, known to reduce  inflammation, and can stimulate collagen production for a more youthful looking complexion.

Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds are loaded with nutrients that promote beautiful skin, such as B vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, chlorophyll and zinc. Pumpkin seeds are also an excellent source of amino acids, including tryptophane.
Water
Drinking plenty of water has loads of health and beauty benefits, including a more radiant complexion. Water will keep your skin moisturized so it looks younger and will give you a radiant glow by flushing toxins and waste from your body.

FROM THE OUTSIDE IN

3Lab Perfect BB Cream SPF 40, $95.  By now I’m sure you’ve heard of BB cream and if you’re wondering if it’s worth all the hype the answer is YES! What sets it apart from all the other products out there is two unique anti-aging elements. The first is Nano-Claire GY, the first patented  liposomal encapsulated human growth hormone that treats fine lines and wrinkles. The second is PhytoCellTec Malus Domestica which are stem cells from a rare Swiss apple (so rare, only three trees are left in existence) that have been proven to slow down and delay the aging process. Use this cream and I promise, you’ll look like you’ve been photo-shopped!

Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20, $48. This cream is a must for those who like to keep their beauty routine quick and simple, with as few steps as possible. This formula is designed to hydrate, prime, mattify and protect the skin while enhancing your complexion. Try the translucent shade  for a flawless, fresh-faced look or a tinted shade if you need more coverage. (I personally use the translucent shade as a base and then layer over it with the aforementioned BB Cream or a thin layer of foundation.)

Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation, $46. Speaking of foundation, I have tried out a LOT over the years and this is my top pick. This formula is  buildable, allowing you to get as much or as little coverage as needed. When my skin is in especially good shape (this is usually during the times when I’m eating a lot of the items listed in part one of this article!), I’m good with one thin layer. If my skin is acting up, I layer until my blemishes become invisible. The best part is no matter how much you apply, it never looks thick or heavy. Instead, you get a fresh, natural looking finish. (I also recommend the Bobbi Brown Face Touch-Up Stick for on-the-go touch ups. I never leave home without it!)

Make Up For Ever Uplight Face Luminizer Gel, $29. When it comes to a gorgeous, natural-looking glow, this product trumps all the rest. In addition to enhancing your complexion to your liking (it’s available in three finishes: dewy, pearly, and sparkling), it moisturizes the skin for a fresh-faced appearance that lasts. Use it to create an all-over glow or apply it selectively on your cheekbones or eyelids to enhance specific features.

This is SO true! I used to have terrible breakouts until I started eating better. Cutting dairy really helped for me!
