Backstage Beauty: Tory Burch

The look was kept fresh and pretty for the Tory Burch Spring 2010 presentation, giving her casual yet chic collection the perfect spring feel. The hair was pulled back into low ponytails and makeup was subtle yet screamed “pretty young thing.” Here’s what Redken hairstylist Yannick D’Ys and MAC makeup artist Diane Kendal shared with me backstage.

HAIR
Creating a very timeless hairstyle for the spring looks, D’Ys gave the low ponytail a glamorous yet wearable feel by giving it a clean center part and a bit of an expression with a rough textured look in the back. A thin piece of hair was wrapped around the top of the pony to give the style that clean look. D’Ys used Redken Spray Starch 15 ($13) to give it the clean feel as well as Fabricate 03 Heat-Active Texturizer ($14) to achieve the textured volume in the back.

MAKEUP

Inspired by actress Mia Farrow from the ‘60s, Kendal gave the models a very fresh, clean, and pretty feel. She used soft pastel-like colors on the cheeks, eyes, and lips. MAC’s Prep & Prime Transparent Finishing Powder ($21) was used on the skin, Powder Blush ($15.50) in Peaches on the cheeks, with Eyeshadow ($14.50) in Arena on the lids and in Saddle for the crease. She lined the inner rims with Fascinating Eye Kohl ($14.50) and used Zoom Lash Mascara ($13). MAC’s new colors (which are not out yet) Ms. Cho and Ember Glo were used on the lips.
