Hi all. I have a weird texting situation. I’ve started talking to a guy from an online dating site through text and the situation seems odd. He Initiated the initial conversation and the texting..and has told me he is really interested in getting to know me (talk is cheap, I know). He asked me to text him yesterday which I did and never heard from him. Then tonight about an hour ago he texted “hi beautiful” and I wrote him back a few min later when I saw the text but have heard nothing since. Is this guy worth bothering with?

Firstly, it is a bit weird because why would he ask you to text him? He’d just text you if he wants to talk. Also, it depends on how long it has been since you replied to his text. Some guys are not too much on their phone so it could take a while for them to respond even if they are interested. I say don’t stress too much on when he texts and texting patterns but whether he makes an effort to call you/ ask you out on a date. Then you can see what to do.

No be is a lame ass’d game player; probably with little self confidence (hence needing to feel he has you hanging) just needing an ego stroke. What a kn*b! Don’t reply again – and with someone new don’t respond unless they’re asking you a question. Hey beautiful is okay only if it’s your boyfriend!

maybe he’s just testing your temperature. I have a guy I met last summer, we dated few months but I had to shut it down b/c we were too different. He still texts every few weeks something simple like “good afternoon” or ‘hello to you’.
he actually called me this weekend to talk. but primarily to find out when I’ll be free again…..hadn’t seen him in 2-3 months so it was weird.
He thinks I”m going to go out with him again and I guess I”m stringing him along (not nice I know) but he won’t just ‘let go’. Besides, maybe I will maybe I won’t………..who the hell knows.
But to your question, yeah I’d leave him alone. if he steps up the game and actually calls to make plans to see you then that’s another story. otherwise………….yea NEXT.Lucy

LOL…… my co-workers phone is cute…. he can type in any message such as “Hi beautiful, how’s your day going?” send it out to 20 women but they think it has ONLY been sent to them….. when they respond it comes back to him in ONE separate message not a group message …..that no one else can see…. I think he most likely is doing the same with you and some other chickie-poo answered out of 20 that he wanted to talk to more than you…… at least that is what I think when guys pull this stunt with me….. especially when my name isn’t on that text…when they send a text like that, don’t respond right away, you’re busy…… When you do respond, give him one or two word response….. then if he doesn’t respond with some intelligence (showing interest)… blow him off… hes not worth your time….

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I agree with most of what’s been said. It showed a lack of effort on his part..he also seems like he’s just sending out mass texts and talking who he prefers to talk to. He’s texted every night and I’ve either not responded or answered something short when I’ve gotten around to it. The other thing that came to mind was that he was already seeing someone or multiple someone’s..because the convo stops and starts abruptly and with some kind of line. Last nights was “I want to kiss you”. Oh brother! Next!

This post both breaks my heart but also gives me some clarity. I think I just got through being in a similar situation. Hope the OP has moved on and enjoying life!
