Top 5 Spring/Summer Must-Haves

Summer is just around the bend which can only mean one thing in ANM land…. it’s time for my seasonal Top 5 Must-Have list!

Every season I identify five pieces worth investing in to upgrade your current wardrobe and bring it into the new season with a fresh spin. Spring and summer are great times to experiment with color, but it’s almost important to factor in comfort, since we’re more likely to walk as opposed to driving or public transportation to soak up the lovely weather (especially in areas with particularly brutal winters).

A new season doesn’t require a new wardrobe. With a few key pieces, you can instantly upgrade what you’ve got. See what made my list for this season.

Silky Day-to-Night Dress: A comfortable, lightweight, airy dress that can transition from day-to-night is an essential during the sweltering summer months.
My Pick:
Joie Sherleen Silk Ombre Dress, $308. This dress is breathable, flattering and highly versatile . Wear it with heals and a blazer for a night out and with sandals and a floppy hat for a casual summer day. I bought it in purple and get flooded with compliments every time I wear it!

A Lightweight Blouse: A lightweight blouse can definitely be filed as a year-round staple. Wear it with skinny jeans, cut-offs, wide leg trousers mini skirts, maxi skirts, pencil skirts–anything!
My Pick:
Lucca Couture Open Back Button-Down Blouse, $54. This pale pale peach shade looks gorgeous set against any complexion, especially a sun-kissed one. The open back gives this classic look an extra touch of sex-appeal for a slightly unexpected touch.

Comfortable Flats: While sandals are great and all, they can leave your feet absolutely FILTHY, so I tend to wear them in moderation. Ballet flats are a much more foot-friendly alternative, and they offer more support to boot (not to mention, will help keep your pedicure in tact for a bit longer!
My Pick: TOMS ‘Gisele’ Ballet Flat, $78.95. I recently discovered TOMS ballet flats and I don’t think anything else in footwear can compare to this level of comfort (save for TOMS sneakers!). The flats don’t rub or irritate your feet and they’re perfectly cushioned, so you feel like you’re walking on a cloud. They’re available in several colors and prints but my favorite has to be this feisty leopard print- they’re the perfect way to add a little flavor to any look.

Bright Maxi Skirt: My love of maxi skirts is very well established. My last obsession is the bright maxi, it’s the perfect combination of bold fashion maven and laid back bohemian.
My Pick:
Maison Scotch Chiffon Maxi Skirt, $148. Electric blue is my absolute favorite hue. It’s eye-catching without being obnoxious and looks great when set against every color, literally. This flowy style is the perfect length and won’t have you tripping over your fabulous self all day. The airy chiffon also makes it perfect for the warmer months.

Bright Belt: A bold belt is the perfect way to add a pop of color to your look. It’s also a great trick for making your waist look slimmer. Put a skinny belt over a slim cardigan, flowy maxi dress or over a simple style that could use an upgrade.
My Pick: Deena & Ozzy Neon Belt, $24. This slim belt is all you need to make a big impact. Neon yellow always grabs attention and it looks great when set against most shades, so there is little risk of getting it wrong. I especially love to contrast of neon yellow with neutral shades of peach, cream or pale pink, it makes for a perfectly unexpected combo that just works even though you don’t know how, kind of like peanut butter and jelly.
