One Shoe, Three Looks: How to Wear Biker Boots

I was having a conversation with one of my girlfriends the other day and she mentioned how she loves motorcycle boots, but has no idea how to incorporate them into her current wardrobe.  I’ve heard this a lot in the past couple months, so I figured I’d share with you the easy ways you can incorporate this awesome flat boot into a variety of your looks.

Motorcycle boots have a tendency to come off a bit tough (think Rooney Mara in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”), but they’re really much more versatile and easy to wear.

Want proof? Check out these three totally different ways to rock this “hardcore” style using  Steve Madden’s Tarnney Boots.

Look 1: Dress it up
Yes, motorcycle boots can be worn with your girliest of wares, and it looks great because you add a tough, masculine edge to an otherwise dainty look.  Try pairing with your work day wear, or even with flowing long maxi dresses or pretty skater skirts.  All of the feminine chic-ness of your look will downplay the edginess of the boot, while still giving you a really hip look and make your work day a little less boring.

Blouse: Prabal Gurung Cut-Out Button Down Blouse, $1,025; Cape: Windsmoor Classic Black Cape, $255; Skirt: TopShop Dark Denim Skater Skirt, $40; Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Hour Bag, $750; Necklace: Statement of the Art Necklace in Sun, $34.99; Cuff: Maison Martin Margiela Leather Cuff, $540; Sunglasses: 80’s Rounded Cat-Eye Glasses, $12

Look 2: Get casual and get going.
Pair these super comfortable shoes with your favorite casual outfits to get you going while running errands or grabbing a casual weekend lunch with the girls.  It will help add some edge to your comfortable and toned down look and you’ll be able to rock this look wherever your day takes you.  Pair with slouchy sweater dresses, tighter-fit boyfriend jeans, leggings, skinnies, t-shirts, cozy oversized sweaters and cardigans – you get the picture.

Top: 3.1 Phillip Lim Side Seam Tee, $295; Jeans: Proenza Schouler PS-J2 Skinny Jeans, $255; Cardigan: VPL Shift Cardigan, $495; ScarfErdem Midnight Ocean Print Scarf, $645; Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel, $895; Sunglasses: Stella McCartney Aviators, $250

Look 3: Take Them Out
Take those motorcycle boots out for a night on the town.   If you’re anything like me, you love wearing your sexy heels out for a night out with your faves, but why not play is up a little bit and trade in your sky high shoes for some flat motorcycle boots?  Work them into your normal going out attire and you’ll notice that these bad boys looks pretty rad with a lot. Pair with blazers, skinny jeans, leather, pretty blouses, dresses, shorts – see, I wasn’t lying when I said these shoes pair with A LOT.

Shirt: Romwe Asymmetric Lap Nude Chiffon Blouse, $74.99; Jeans: J Brand Low Rise Jeans, $199; Blazer: Mango Tuxedo Blazer, $119.99; Bag: Alexander McQueen Box Clutch, $2905; Bracelet: Juicy Couture Chunky Chain Bracelet, $98; Earrings: Ela Stone Feather Earrings, $73

Nice article, but those aren’t motorcycle boots. They are combat boots – big difference!
