Exclusive Tips From the Fashion Experts

When it comes to fashion, no one has it down like the true insiders- I’m talking about the acclaimed editors and stylists responsible for setting the standards on trends and what to wear. As the final edition to my celeb style secrets series, I’m sharing the tips and secrets I’ve learned from some of the most renowned individuals in the fashion field.

Read on for amazing exclusive tips from the fames fashion heavy-hitters pictured above!

Andre Leon Tally on developing a unique sense of style: The most important thing that anybody can do is get up with a positive attitude, positive energy, the mindset must be positive when you wake up. And the essential thing is grooming- shampooed hair, scrubbed face. The belt can be $4 or $400 it doesn’t matter, it’s all about the person and what they project inside.

Nina Garcia on learning what works: You have to try a lot of things and be open to a lot of things. I think sometimes we, and myself included, we kind of say ‘well this is what works’ and we won’t experiment, but experimentation is part of it, and sometimes you’d be surprised! Like for a long time I would not wear color, but color looks really good! It’s one of those things where you have to really push and experiment to what works.

Philip Bloch on being more stylish: I think simplicity is best, like a simple elegant dress. I say for guys a lot of the time, put a turtle neck on- if you don’t know what you’re doing just put a turtleneck on. Get a nice cashmere turtleneck and put it on under a denim jacket, under a blazer, it always looks good. And stretching, stretching is really, really important. Stretching is one of the best things you can do for your body and to look great in clothes. It’s a really great fashion tip, and people don’t even consider it a fashion tip. It’s not about having a great body, you have to fit yourself into your clothes.

Rachel Zoe on fashion rules everyone should follow: Always have a nude thong at hand! And always wear something with confidence because if you’re not confident, it’s gonna show.

Nigel Barker on the key to looking great: Believe in yourself- have fun with it, and let the beauty come from within.

Tim Gunn on the biggest fashion DONT: The only thing I will caution everyone against is: keep that bare midriff covered! I don’t understand, I mean unless you’re at the beach, I don’t get it!

Philip’s fashion tip about stretching was so refreshing to read! As funny as it may seem – his commentary is so right on so many levels! A few moments a day dedicated to taking care of your body makes your body look better which works to increases self confidence…and all of this helps you look much more fabulous in your already fabulous wardrobe! And, yes, Rachel Zoe is right…a nude thong helps too:)!
