Valentine’s Day Beauty: Tips to Get Gorgeous Quick

Valentine’s day is around the corner and I am trying to figure my strategy to recreate myself in the Valentine’s spirit after a long day at work. It is not unusual for me to come home not looking like anything you would want to take out on the town. But I have a plan to transform myself in less than an hour from half-extinct mortal to supernatural goddess.

Follow my instructions carefully:

The best way I have found to deal with my dark circles and eye puffiness after a long day is to apply The Truth Eye Peel ($42) by skin guru to the stars, Ole Henriksen. Formulated with Micro Algae, Rice Brand Protein, Lactic and Glycolic Acid, it exfoliates to enhance cell renewal and reduce dryness. This is probably the only Eye Peel you will have heard of but it works very well in combination with the Ultimate Lift Eye Gel to help reduce tiredness and small lines. A fresher eye will be born in a few minutes. Contains no parabens, no sulfates or phthalates.

You can also revitalize your eyes with EmerginC ‘s Revital-Eyes Mask ($38) that you put directly underneath your eye area for 10 minutes. It contains Gingko Biloba leaf, Chamomile, Green Tea, Phytelene Minerals to reduce puffiness, remineralize and tighten the skin.

Even with all the eye treatments available, we still need a good concealer to keep the eye area immaculate which is key for a on-the-go Valentine’s Day look. The best concealer I know is Repêchage’s Perfecting Concealer ($26). It debuffs and conceals at the same time. Enteromorpha Compressa Seaweed extract soothes and regenerates the eye area to reduce swelling through the evening, keeping it even and fresh. Particularly suitable for sensitive eyes.

To cover skin flaws and unify the skin, some prefer a liquid foundation. The Repêchage Perfect Skin Liquid Foundation ($32) is feather light and works as a moisturizer at the same time. The secret is to be found in the regenerative properties of seaweed rich in anti-oxidants A, E & C. The silk-like foundation disappears into the skin without drawing attention to itself or clogging your skin’s pores. Available in eight shades.

You may want to zest up your look a step further with a little bronzing. The Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Glow-Boosting Shimmer Veil ($14.95)  can give you an instant – bronze bombshell look.  It diffuses a light dusting of iridescence that can be applied to the face and even your shoulders, arms, décolleté, legs and hair. Apply gently, a little goes a long way. The glow activators include vitamins, moisturizers and antioxidants.

If you prefer a subtle finish in a powder, Physicians Formula Super BB All-in-One Beauty Balm Powder ($13.95) creates a very even one by hydrating the skin, improving its texture and evening its color.

To make sure stubble does not get in the way of romance, I make sure my legs are smooth on the 14th. I really like the Schick Xtreme3 Hawaiian Tropic Razor ($14.99) with tropical scents. Its handle is spiked with exotic botanicals. Three blades flex and pivot with Aloe, Vitamin E and Jojoba.

To help reboot my vivacity for the evening, I like to use energizing skin products with great aromatherapeutic scents that lift all my troubles away after a long day. Primavera’s Energizing line with spicy Organic Ginger includes a potent Energizing Deodorant and the Energizing Nail and Hand Cream ($14.39) that smoothe my winter uber-dry hands and nails.

Now that your skin is taken care of, you need to work on your make up. At the SAG awards, I was impressed by Jaimie Alexander’s look, her soft smoky eye created with Lancôme Le Crayon Khol in Black Ebony ($26) and the Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara in Black ($27). No one does it quite like the French and on Valentine’s Day I am not taking any chances.I go with Lancome. It stays on, it does not smudge, it looks impeccable.

For lips, I am still a big gloss fan. Since I have discovered Repêchage‘s unique collection of luxurious Lip Glosses ($18) with their unique formula of Laminaria Digitata and Ascophyllum Nodoum Seaweeds and Sheer Butter I can’t go back to anything less. You can wear them alone for a sheer neutral look or apply your favorite lipstick for a luminous accent.

If your hair is long and you want to awe your date to the floor, I think you should try this look. Created by Vince Smith from the Vince Smith Hair Experience Salon, it is not difficult to achieve but follow the steps carefully. You need a curling iron set and spray (in this case, White Sands Liquid Texture Firm Hold Setting Spray, $19). Generously spray each section, so it’s almost damp. First, slide the curling iron from roots to ends to heat the hair.  Then curl the hair and pin in place to allow the hair to cool. The direction of the set is important to achieve this sexy, glamorous look. Start at the center part in the front. The curls should be parallel to the part going down. Then in front of the ear, the curls should be parallel to the hairline going forward. The rest should be back and down. After the hair is cool, simply run your fingers through your hair to separate the curls a little. Be careful not to run all the way through the ends, so as not to brush out the curls entirely.

Put your trust in good products that give you confidence by delivering the best version of your self. Even after a long day, you can quickly make yourself over, pick up the fresh exuberance of glamour by focusing on a few elementary things and step into the night, revived and adventurous for a wonderful time.

James Byrd, small framed man with dark hair, mustache and goatee. He was different! He taught classic literature, read such books as Moby Dick, and Wuthering Heights, and Of Mice and Men. Guess I remember more about that class than I thought!!! If you don’t remember him, I’m sure hubby does! Even those who di7#;n821d&t have him, knew him!
