Staying Young- What Does It Take?

When the Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon set out to find the Fountain of Youth he found Florida instead. He wasn’t the first to look for healing waters that could restore youth, either. The legend goes as far back as the time of Alexander the Great, who supposedly searched for such waters in eastern Asia. Today, we’re still looking for the magic fountain or pill that will keep us young forever. While there’s no “magic” involved, there are ways to look and feel much younger than your chronological age. Almost daily, news reports recount the results of new research covering all aspects of anti-aging and beauty, from advancements in lasers and skin creams that stimulate collagen to revolutionary discoveries for weight loss or the latest injectables that claim to take years off a person’s face.

How do you sort it all out? There are a few simple tips that almost anyone can use to start making changes that can lead to a healthier, more youthful and vibrant look.

Find out what they are after the jump!

Aging Backwards Tips:

1. There is a Fountain of Youth – it’s called exercise! I know, I know – groan. But seriously, today’s experts are finding out that you don’t have to “kill” yourself for an hour a day with exercise. Ten minutes a day of the right type of exercise can be very effective. According to Al Sears, MD of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, using alternating sets of hard-charging-get-your-heart-rate-up exercise and then rest can give you a great workout. Check out his PACE program here: alsearsmd.com. I also love the new JumpSnap – the jump rope without the rope – as a great tool to take advantage of Dr. Sears’ concept. Jumping rope is great exercise but that darn rope is always getting in the way and tripping us up. JumpSnap eliminates the rope using two special weighted handles and let’s you get a great workout. Check it out at jumpsnap.com.

2. Smell Younger. Seriously! Studies done by Dr. Alan Hirsch of the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago revealed that the scent of pink grapefruit makes a man perceive a woman as six years younger than her age. Perfume maker Harvey Prince & Co. of New York City took that a step further and created the world’s first anti-aging perfume, Ageless, proven to make men who smell it on a woman see her as eight years younger. Ageless incorporates the essence of pink grapefruit along with some other “youthful” scents in a light, energizing scent. Find it here: agelessperfume.com.

3. Get your Beauty Rest. Sleep is a free beauty treatment daily, so why not take advantage of it? Our bodies “tune up” while we’re sleeping, according to the experts. Some studies claim that sleep deprivation alters the production and action of certain hormones. I say why pay for hormones when you can get them for free? One way to improve your sleep is to stop using your cell phone after nine p.m. according to a recent study reported by BBC. Keep your room dark and try wearing ear plugs if loud noise inside or outside is keeping you awake. If you’re the type of person whose brain has a tough time shutting off at night (hand raised), try “winding down” an hour earlier at night by meditating, listening to soothing music or taking a warm bath.

You can see that these tips are simple and easy to incorporate into your life. Aging Backwards is about adopting small, easy, daily habits that add up to big results. You actually make it appear so easy together with your presentation however I
to find this topic to be actually something that I feel I’d by no means understand. It seems too complicated and extremely vast for me. I am taking a look forward for your subsequent put up, I’ll try to get
the cling of it!

Youth Man

Great post!
Its actually true, this post. I´ve been living like this for the last 12 years, since I was 24 and people still think that I´m 26 and not 36. I eat everything, but I dont eat till I explode. I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, I work out 5 minuttes a day/5 days a week. 40 push-ups, 40 sit-ups and thats that! I actually drink alcohol 1-2 times a week. I´m a musician, I have to! ;o) They say there´s something in beers that keeps you young. I know its damaging the liver and that’s actually pretty bad by the way. I also sleep long everyday! I dont walk in the sunlight that much. I dont go to the beach everyday on holidays. Maybe I´m just lucky to look good at 36, I dont know. Maybe its in my genes?! Its the same story with my older brother and sister. I dont know……I´m not rich, dont buy expensive stuff to put in my face…I believe in the magic of olive, lime and Aloe Vera. All mixed together with some dry coffee powder. Rub your face gently! One thing is for sure: Try to be happy with what you do and dont think too much about age and all that stuff…..

Absolutely! The fountain of youth is not restricted to a particular place, but present everywhere.
We need to dig it out through various natural sources.
P.S. – Sorry, forgot to tell you great post!
