Re-create the Hottest Golden Globes Hairstyles

While I love the parade of gorgeous gowns that comes with every awards show season, I have to say that I am a lot more into the beauty looks these days. While most, okay probably all, of us will never be able to afford a hand-crafted couture gown, we can all replicate the stunning hairstyles that helped make the entire look all the more spectacular.

This year, romantic waves, elegant updos and curly styles dominated on the red carpet at the Golden Globes and to help you add some more glam into your life this season, Pureology PureArtist April Webster provided easy steps to recreate these stunning looks on your own.

The Elegant Updo

Step 1:  Prepare the hair by spritzing 8 pumps of Pureology ColourStylist Fortifying Heat Spray on damp hair then emulsify a golf ball sized dollop of ColourStylist Silk Bodifier and apply throughout hair.

Step 2:  Blow-dry using a large round brush to smooth. Create a side part and sweep bangs to the side.

Step 3: When hair is dry, apply a small pea-sized amount of ColourStylist Cuticle Polisher to entire perimeter of hair and begin to smooth into a low ponytail at nape.

Step 4:  After all hair is smooth and secure, twist in a clockwise upward turn to create a French Twist pleat without excess fullness.  Once the crown is reached fold the ends down and back into the twist.  This will create the little fullness and “poof”  in the crown. Secure with both open and closed bobby pins.

Step 5:  Finish look with ColourStylist Strengthening Control zero dulling hairspray.

Long, Romantic Waves:

Step 1: Prepare the hair by spritzing 8 pumps of ColourStylist Fortifying HeatSpray on damp hair then create a custom blend of equal parts ColourStylist Nourishing Nectar and ColourStylist Silk Bodifier.  Apply to mid-shaft, ends, then scalp area last.

Step 2:  Blow-dry hair using a medium round brush.  Once hair is dry, curl hair using a  1-inch curling iron spaying each section with ColourStylist Strengthening Control hairspray prior to curling. Clip each curl with a single prong clip to allow the curl to cool.

Step 3: Remove clips when hair is cool and gently brush using a soft bristle brush.  Apply a small pea sized amount of ColourStylist Cuticle Polisher and push waves into desired shape.

Step 4:  Finish the look with ColourStylist Strengthening Control zero dulling hairspray.

Curly Updo:

Step 1: Prepare the hair by spritzing 8 pumps of ColourStylist Fortifying Heat Spray on damp hair then apply a quarter sized amount of ColourStylist Nourishing Nectar blended with one pump of ColourStylist Anti Split BlowDry to entire head of hair.

Step 2:  Blow-dry hair with a small round brush.  When dry, set hair using a 1/2″ curling iron.  Use single prong clips to hold curls in place as they cool.

Step 3:  Finger-rake curls to loosen and allow hair to flow in its own natural pattern. Secure perimeter with closed bobby pins to give shorter hair the look of an “up” style.

Step 4: Finish by smoothing hair into place with ColourStylist Cuticle Polisher and misting with ColourStylist Strengthening Control zero-dulling hairspray.
