Celebrity Beauty Inspiration: Jessica Alba’s Sweet and Flirty Look

While everyone is still obsessing over the “punk” beauty and fashion looks at the Met Gala, I’m completely falling for Jessica Alba’s fresh spring makeup from her recent appearance at the “Secretly and Greatly” press conference in Seoul, South Korea.

Her subtle, neutral eye, dewy skin, and pink lips are a nice break from the brooding red and brown shades of winter and fall. In fact, I loved her look so much that I tried to re-create it for a date night. Flirty and natural, this day-to-night date look will highlight your best features, and not to mention, make a great first impression.

Here’s how I did it:

FACE
To achieve Jessica’s flawless skin, I used Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua ($45) liquid foundation in B40. I like using Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua because it has a water-based formula that is lightweight and feels natural on my face. It provides just the right amount of coverage with an SPF of 15 and conceals like a second skin.

Smashbox’s Camera Ready BB cream with SPF 35 ($39.99) is also a good option for a lightweight foundation that will provide medium coverage and won’t feel like you’re caking your face. These two foundations are great options for this makeup look because they leave a dewy, luminous finish on your skin. To set your foundation, you can use any pressed powder; I like to use Revlon’s ColorStay Pressed Powder ($8.49).

CHEEKS
For Jessica’s slightly sun-kissed skin, I contoured my face by lightly dusting the sides of my cheeks in a three-shape motion with Josie Maran’s Argan Brightening Bronzer Sun Spot Corrector ($22). This bronzer complements my olive/yellow skin tone and gives me a radiant glow. The Argan oil-infused powder contains vitamin C and bearberry extract to bright the skin and correct uneven skintone. A little goes a long way with bronzer, so for this look, I used only one swipe of the product and dusted off the excess. It’s best to use a blending brush or angled contouring brush when you’re working with a bronzer because it picks up just the right amount of product you should be using.

What I also love about Jessica’s look is her subtle, natural flush. To get the same peachy cheeks, I applied Maybelline’s  Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral ($7.99) to the apples of my cheeks with my fingers. This cream blush allows you to control how much product you pick up so you don’t have to worry about overdoing it. A coral blush is perfect for a spring date night look because it provides just the right hint of color.

If you prefer a matte blush, you can try Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Tipsy ($25). Like the bronzer, a little goes a long way with this blush so you don’t need to pick up a lot of product to get the full effect.

EYES
Jessica’s neutral eye has some simple yet stunning effects. For this look, I used shades from Urban Decay’s Naked Basics Palette ($27). Taupe, ivory, and rose eyeshadow colors are perfect for this look.

And for lush lashes like hers, my Shu Uemura’s Eyelash Curler ($20) and Shiseido’s Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Mascara ($35) volumized my peepers. But if you want your eyes to look extra flirty, you can apply a pair of faux lashes. Next, I created a heavy cat eye with Lancome’s Artliner ($30) in noir. This liquid eyeliner has a great pen applicator and foam tip that allow you to make precise lines and define your eyes.

LIPS
Jessica’s pink lips complete this flirty date look, and for this, I used Wet N Wild’s Megalast Lip Stick in Smokin’ Hot Pink ($2.99). This outlasting lipstick has a matte finish, but as you can see, Jessica’s lips look like they are glossed here, so I perked them up with Philosophy’s Vanilla Birthday Cake Lip Shine ($10).

FINISHING TOUCHES
Lastly, I lightly dusted a highlighter over the tops of my cheeks, down the bridge of my nose, and on my cupid’s bow. I used MAC’s Beauty Powder in Too Chic ($23), but if you prefer a liquid highlighter, try the beauty cult favorite, Benefit’s High Beam ($26).
