For her Spring 2010 collection, Charlotte Ronson was inspired by the ballerinas of New York, specifically the way they look when leaving dance class and mix their dance attire with their regular clothes.
To enhance this motif, hair stylist Allen Ruiz from Avon and makeup artist Charlotte Willard for Maybelline created just-walked-out-of-dance-class looks that were fresh and natural-looking. The hair was pulled back into chic, slightly undone buns and the makeup was kept soft, sheer and translucent.
I got the chance to hang out backstage before the show to talk to the stylists and watch the looks come to life.
Read on to replicate the hair and makeup looks.
MAKEUP
To create the clean, fresh-faced look, Willard used Maybelline Mineral Power Powder Foundation ($8.29) and Mineral Power Concealer ($6.49). She applied the Mineral Power Illuminator ($19.99) in pink over the eyelids and on the high-cheekbones for the perfect touch of color and then dusted Mineral Power Blush ($7.49) in gentle pink on the apples of the cheek. To finish, she applied a coat of Lash Stilletto Mascara ($7.49) to the top lashes only and used Color Sensational Lipstick ($8.57) in Born With It on the lips.
HAIR
Ruiz wanted the hair to be very fresh, shiny, and healthy looking. He prepped the hair by applying Avon Advance Techniques Salon Volume Finishing Spray from root to tip, which enhances natural shine and creates volume. Next, he blowdried the hair back using the Advance Techniques Paddle Brush ($7.99) to maintain a natural, soft texture.
Next, he pulled the hair back to form a tight ponytail at the back crown of the head and secured it with a ponytail holder. He then pulled it, twisted it, and wrapped it around to form a bun, securing it with bobby-pins. He finished by lightly spraying Advance Techniques Hair Spray ($2.99) to hold it all in place.
